The city is tightening security on one of its most popular Web sites after it was brought to its knees by information-gathering services that collect and sell the data, officials said yesterday.
Visitors to the Department of Buildings Web site now have to go through an extra layer of cyber-security. The DOB site, which normally sees 7 million visitors a week, racked up 9 billion visits between Feb. 6 and Feb. 12, causing it to crash.
