Do your part to aid kids

As Officer Peter Figoski is laid to rest today, New Yorkers are reminded that they can still lend a hand to the hero cop’s four heartbroken daughters.

The Peter Figoski Scholarship Fund has already raised more than $500,000 from people moved by the slain officer’s determination to pay for his girls’ higher education.

Figoski single-handedly raised his daughters and could have retired years ago, but remained on the force — working the dangerous midnight shift — so he could pay for their college education while maximizing his time with his two younger kids.

The fund, launched last week by The Post and the New York City Police Foundation, received a sizable check from the world of professional sports, but the donor wished to remain anonymous.

Figoski, 47, is survived by daughters Christine, 20, a SUNY Oneonta undergrad; Caitlyn, 17, a SUNY Plattsburgh undergrad; and Caroline, 16, and Corrine, 15, high-school students in West Babylon, LI.

Donations to the fund are tax deductible. Checks may be mailed to the charity’s addresses. Credit- and debit-card donations may be made at www.nycpolicefoundation.org

Mail and online donations should be clearly marked for the Peter Figoski Scholarship Fund.

Political figures such as City Councilman James Oddo of Staten Island continue to rally for the cause.
