Leiby Kletzky’s alleged killer has personality disorder, psych exam shows

A doctor at Bellevue Hospital who examined Levi Aron recommended the confessed child killer remain in the psych ward there while another said Aron suffered from a personality disorder, The Post has learned.

Defense lawyer Pierre Bazile confirmed the details contained in a court-ordered report that determined Aron is fit to stand trial for killing and dismembering 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky.

The second doctor found Kletzky had a personality disorder with “schizoid tendencies,” opening the door to a schizophrenia diagnosis, Bazile said.

“We are now evaluating whether his psychological condition meets the threshold for a mental disease or defect defense,” Bazile told The Post.

The Associated Press reported that the evaluation described Aron as flat and apathetic and noted his sister died while institutionalized for schizophrenia.

Aron is charged with murder and kidnapping after allegedly luring the lost Borough Park boy into his car last month.

It was the child’s first day walking home alone from day camp.
