Cops suspect that a couple gunned down while pushing their 3-year-old son in a stroller in Boonton, NJ, last night were targeted.

Nasish Noorani, 27, was killed. Her husband, Kashif Pervaiz, 26, was shot four times. He was in surgery today but is expected to survive, family members said.

“This investigation is ongoing and the release of information at this stage would compromise the progress of same,” Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said in a statement. “From what we have already determined, however, it should be noted that this shooting clearly appears to be target specific and that there is not a continuing danger to the general public at large.”

The couple were at Noorani’s sister’s house in Boonton to break the Ramadan fast last night. They were shot after they left the dinner.

Five shots rang out about 11:30 p.m. Noorani was hit near her heart and Pervaiz was shot in the ankle and shoulder, NJ.com reported.

Cops are hunting for three suspects.

Shafiq Hassan, Pervaiz’s father, this morning said, “It’s very hard. What can we do? What can we do?

“I just want to see my son. I hope he’s OK.”

He called Noorani “a very nice, sweet girl.”

Hassan said his son is getting a PhD in architecture and engineering at Harvard University. The couple had planned to return to Boston tomorrow.

One relative said Noorani “had a bubbly personality and was genuinely nice. She never had any hatred for anyone or had anything negative about her.”

“She was a very loving and caring mother,” he added.

A family friend said Noorani wanted to become an immigration attorney.

“She wanted to become a lawyer, to help people coming into the country,” Martin Ragusa said.

Ragusa said he spoke to Pervaiz last night

“He called me Tuesday night and said, ‘Have a good night’s sleep, I’ll see you tomorrow,'” Ragusa said.

He called Pervaiz a “tough guy.”

The couple, who were married six years ago, also have a 5-year-old child, who was at Noorani’s sister’s when the shooting happened. Neither child yet knows about Noorani’s death, relatives said.
