Weiner seat in GOP $ight

Anthony Weiner’s seat is getting national attention again — but this time, everyone is keeping their clothes on.

Republicans’ national campaign committee is dumping stacks of cash into GOP candidate Bob Turner’s coffers, The Post has learned.

Top Republican money men have agreed to dole out a five-figure sum to Turner, a businessman vying against Democratic state Assemblyman David Weprin in the special election on Sept. 13.

Officials at the National Republican Campaign Committee wouldn’t disclose the exact amount, but called it a “first step [that] could turn into more help from national Republicans.”

The contribution shows the GOP believes it has a chance to win the seat.

A recent poll showed Turner within six points of Weprin in a contest that many presumed would be an easy win for the Democrats.

“Bob Turner is focused on job creation, lowering taxes and cutting spending,” said NRCC aide Tory Mazzola said.

Weprin campaign spokeswoman Elizabeth Kerr shot back, “While Bob Turner was busy raising money for the Republicans who held our country hostage so they could force cuts to medicare and social security, David Weprin was out with New York City firefighters, who endorsed him, talking to voters about how he will fight to protect those programs.”
