Four women died and dozens were injured early today when a Chinatown-bound bus rolled over on I-95 in Virginia.

Driver fatigue caused the crash of the Sky Express bus, said Virginia State Police. The bus driver, Kin Yiu Cheng, 37, of Flushing, Queens, was arrested on a charge of reckless driving, and ordered held on $3,000 bail.

An inspection team “ruled out any mechanical errors or malfunctions as a causative factor in the crash,” state police said. The National Transportation Safety Board is also investigating.

Cheung’s bus had departed from Greensboro, NC about 10:30 p.m. Monday, and crashed about 4:55 a.m. in rural Caroline County, VA, about 30 miles north of Richmond and 300 miles from New York.

The bus ran off the right side of the road, and came to rest upside down on its roof.

Cheung was driving 58 passengers on the bus. The 54 surviving passengers were treated at 11 hospitals for injuries that ranged between minor and life-threatening.

Virginia medical examiners were working this afternoon to identify the dead women, a spokeswoman said.
