Cops said today that they are looking for a brazen, knife-wielding thug who has been terrorizing women across a part of Manhattan for the past month.

The NYPD released two surveillance photos of the suspect, who has struck five times over the past three weeks.

The man has attacked women as far south as Wall Street stretching to as far north as Gramercy Park.

The mugger is described as a black man in his 30s, about 6-feet tall and weighing 200 pounds.

In most of the attacks, cops said the man approaches his victim from behind armed with a knife and is usually able to flee with their wallet or cell phone.

Police said the mugger first struck on May 12 at 10:30 p.m. in front of 315 E. 18th St., approaching a 26-year-old woman at knifepoint and demanding her wallet.

He struck again the following morning at about 9 a.m. on East Houston St., grabbing a 27-year-old woman from behind and demanding her wallet, police said.

On May 14, the thug grabbed a 24-year-old woman at 1:20 a.m. on East 6th Street and took her cell phone.

Later that same morning, at about 9 a.m. at Lafayette and Bleecker streets, the attacker grabbed a 32-year-old woman from behind, covered her mouth and demanded she surrender her wallet.

On that occasion, cops said, the mugger left empty-handed.

Police said the mugger last struck May 15 at 3 a.m. in front of 44 Wall St., shoving a 24-year-old woman against the wall before he was able to successfully snatch away her cell phone.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls are kept strictly confidential.
