Sharpton’s influence over NYPD mocked with fake ‘commissioner’ badge

Fuming city cops, unhappy with the Rev. Al Sharpton’s perceived influence over the NYPD, have been passing around a mock police ID card with the activist listed as the “NYPD police commissioner.”

This mock police ID card has been making its way around social media sites.

The satiric artwork has been making its way around social media and bears a striking resemblance to a real NYPD identification card.

The ID lists “Sharpton, Alfred C.” as “police commissioner” and it doesn’t expire until Oct. 3, 2018.

The phony ID is complete with an NYPD logo, city seal, watermarks and Sharpton’s picture.

Sharpton has been front and center in the ongoing probe into the death of Eric Garner. The Staten Island man died during a confrontation with police who were arresting him for allegedly selling loose cigarettes.

His death was ruled a homicide by the city’s medical examiner last week and activists have accused Officer Daniel Pantaleo of using a banned chokehold on Garner.

The officer has been placed on desk duty while an investigation is conducted.
