Firefighters and EMTs who saved kids from Brooklyn blaze honored

Firefighters and EMTs were honored at City Hall Thursday for saving three young kids trapped on the fourth floor of a burning building in Brooklyn.

Sharing the honors with members of Ladder 107, Engine 225 and EMS stations 39 and 58 was a mascot Dalmation who shares a name with the mayor’s son — Dante.

“It was an extraordinary rescue,” Mayor de Blasio said of the rescue effort Tuesday in East New York.

De Blasio noted that rookie Justin Tallet, 27, who was at his second fire, located a boy passed out on a bed as flames roared around him and his colleagues, Lt. Chris Bedard and firefighter Michael Pfaff.
