6 looks to have you back in school in style, with the new Batman in ‘Gotham’

David Mazouz is one lucky boy. As the rest of the kids in the country head back to school, 13-year-old Mazouz is living large in New York, starring as Bruce Wayne in the new Batman prequel series “Gotham,” which premieres Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. on Fox.

“When I think about it, I still get excited,” Mazouz tells The Post. “Something happens in my stomach, and I just want to yell.”

But even young Batman has to do homework.

“My teachers [back home in LA] e-mail the work over to my studio teacher and my mom. I do it on-set,” he says, adding with a laugh, “It can be a little challenging, because some teachers are not such good cooperators.” The eighth-grader, who got his start in a European Chevy commercial and starred on “Touch” opposite Kiefer Sutherland, says he doesn’t mind the work. He likes school, especially geography. His cartographer grandfather instilled a love of maps in Mazouz, which means New York and its maze of subway lines is a peculiar delight for him.

“I love it — my mom follows me around like, ‘Where are we going?’ I’ll test her on the subway. [At] our stop, I won’t get up, and I’ll wait to see if she gets up,” he says.

“She usually doesn’t.”
