None injured in NYC train derailment

A train derailed in Staten Island near the ferry terminal Thursday afternoon — the second derailment for the train line in less than three months, authorities said.

The last car of the four-car Staten Island Railway train went off the tracks shortly before 1:50 p.m. as it approached the St. George Terminal.

No one was hurt.

The 90 customers on board evacuated the train, and were escorted by transit workers to the St. George station.

Service has been suspended between the St. George and Clifton stations.

It is not clear yet what caused the train to derail.

In late May, a SIR train derailed near the Tottenville station.

A train operator and conductor suffered minor injuries, and there were no passengers on board.
