Driver killed flying 25 feet down off overpass onto expressway

A man was killed when he crashed through a guardrail on a Bronx overpass and flew through the air before smashing 25 feet down onto the Bruckner Expressway late Friday night, cops said.

The Chevy Cruz sedan was traveling eastbound near Tremont Avenue on the Bruckner service road in Throggs Neck at about 10:45 p.m. Friday, cops said.

The 26-year-old driver struck a metal guardrail and flew through the pedestrian handrail and fence, according to police.

He was was rushed to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition, but he later died from his injuries, cops said.

Traffic flowed normally on the southbound Bruckner but was bumper-to-bumper going northbound two hours after the crash.

The identity of the deceased is pending proper family notification.
