Hamptons hotelier sues liquor board over noise complaint

Hotelier Ed Scheetz slapped the State Liquor Authority with a lawsuit over a $7,500 noise fine for his hip Hamptons hangout Ruschmeyer’s after authorities threatened to shutter the hot spot if he didn’t pay up.

Scheetz, owner of the storied Hotel Chelsea, says the penalties — stemming from two incidents last summer — should be tossed because noise levels were measured with “defective equipment,” according to his Manhattan civil suit.

He calls the fine “excessive” and “grossly disproportional to the nature of the offense” in court papers.

If Sheetz fails to pay the fine by June 6, he could lose his liquor license.

Montauk residents have been complaining about the hipster hangout — a kind of summer camp for adults with ping pong and swings — since it opened in 2011, flooding the area with traffic and drunken revelers.

A reviewer posting on the travel website TripAdvisor heralded Ruschmeyer’s as a late-night party spot where you can “dance ‘til dawn.”

Beastie Boy Mike D. hosted a fundraiser last Memorial Day at the Second House Road hotel and restaurant, where no-frills rooms go for over $300 a night and lobster rolls cost $27.
