Dov Charney has a few photos that he left behind at the offices of American Apparel — and he wants them back.
A lawyer for the retailer’s ousted CEO has demanded in a written letter that the company produce a computer server containing Charney’s personal photographs, sources told The Post.
“It is imperative that the company produce this server to Mr. Charney right away and that the company confirm that it has not, and will not, access the server for the photographs,” a lawyer for Charney wrote in the June 26 letter, according to a source.
The letter added that “neither the server nor the photographs have any bearing on the company’s purported termination of Mr. Charney.”
Nevertheless, the company “believes the server in question is both owned and has been maintained by American Apparel” and currently has no plans to fork it over, according to a source close to the retailer.
The company’s lawyers are using an “abundance of caution, checking to make sure that no rights are violated,” the source added.
Charney’s lawyer didn’t elaborate on the photographs in question, but given Charney’s history of sex antics, company officials “would be surprised if he is concerned about others seeing photos of his dog,” a source close to the company said.
A source close to Charney reiterated his lawyer’s claim that the photos in question aren’t damaging to his case as he battles the board’s surprise move to fire him at a June 18 board meeting.
As first reported by The Post, it was racy photos that finally got Charney into trouble with the board, whose termination letter blamed him for allowing a blog to post naked pictures of a former employee who had sued for sex harassment.
