Woman injured after building facade collapses

A woman was struck by falling brick, wood and metal when the façade of a building collapsed in Williamsburg, officials said.

The 32-year-old victim was not pinned by the debris and had no visible cuts or blood after the front of a one-story Flushing Avenue deli under construction crashed onto the unsuspecting woman around 11:35 a.m., Thursday, authorities said.

The woman was surrounded by debris when EMS workers arrived. She was taken to Kings County Hospital in serious condition but she was expected to survive, firefighters said.

Officials with the Department of Buildings are still investigating the cause of the collapse.
