Labor unions from outside NY urging LIRR workers to strike

It’s easy to threaten Long Islanders when you’re a carpetbagging union honcho.

Labor bosses from Maryland, Virginia and Kentucky are demanding that local unions walk off the job as soon as they reach the July 20 strike deadline — although that would cause migraines for 300,000 Long Island Rail Road commuters.

“MTA, Governor Cuomo, here we come, and hell’s coming with us!” Robert Scardeletti, of Maryland, international president of the Transportation Communications Union, shouted at a recent rally in Massapequa. “Sign or we strike!”

And Long Island commuters aren’t pleased with his carpetbagging ways.

“Stay the heck out of New York’s business,” said Jocelyn Escobar, 25, who takes the LIRR into the city from Brentwood six times a week.
