Phony twitter accounts posing as official NYPD precinct handles

These Twitter accounts are anything but true blue.

Internet trolls have hopped on the coattails of the NYPD’s social-media campaign — by creating fake precinct Twitter accounts.

On the “unverified” pages — many of which claim to be official NYPD precinct accounts — users post about everything from “kinky sex” to baseball.

“[Here are] some of the best kinky tweets, sex facts, horny posts and more,” one faker posted on the “66th Precinct Anti Crime Unit” Twitter page, along with a link.

As part of its online push, the NYPD set up six legitimate Twitter accounts for precincts including the 25th Precinct in East Harlem, the 83rd in Bushwick, Brooklyn and 112th in Forest Hills, Queens.

But at least 25 phony Twitter pages quickly popped up for “precincts” such as the 78th in Park Slope, Brooklyn, the 52nd in Norwood, The Bronx, and the 9th in the East Village.

Another Internet troll uses the handle “NYPD 52nd” to post anti-cop rants.

The NYPD keeps a close eye on Twitter pages that claim affiliation with the agency, a spokesman said.

“We do monitor that. It can be reported to Twitter where they will investigate and potentially lock those accounts” the rep said.
