Man clinging to life after being punched in the face

A 56-year-old man is clinging to life after being slugged in the face during a seemingly unprovoked attack in Queens, authorities said.

The victim was standing on Roosevelt Avenue near 69th Street in Woodside just after midnight, Saturday, when he was approached by an unknown assailant and socked in the face, cops said.

The man crumpled to the ground, slamming his head violently against the sidewalk, officials said.

Police sources said the victim is in critical condition at Elmhurst General Hospital with brain hemorrhaging, and may not survive the savage assault.

A man last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and a dark baseball cap is wanted for questioning, but cops said he is not a suspect at this time.

The person of interest has facial hair and is believed to be in his early to mid 20s.
