A huge and incredibly rare, 122-carat blue diamond has been found in South Africa. The giant sparkler is expected to fetch well over $35.3 million USD – smashing the world record for the most expensive diamond ever found.

The precious rock was unearthed in the Cullinan mine near Pretoria by experts at the British firm Petra. The same mine was also home of the ‘largest rough gem diamond’ ever – the famous Cullinan Diamond – which was discovered in 1905 and cut into two stones that are now included in the UK crown jewels.
