TV characters have their followers

By now, TV stars live-tweeting episodes of their shows has become commonplace; the practice has been credited with driving ratings for social-media–savvy shows like “Scandal.”

But the stars aren’t the only ones getting in on the action — a number of TV characters also have a Twitter presence through (mostly fan-created) feeds that comment on story lines and tweet offhand comments in the voice of their fictional namesakes.

Here’s a look at some of the more popular accounts bringing our favorite small-screen roles to life in 140 characters.

Twitter has made its way to Westeros, as plenty of the characters — including Jon Snow, Arya Stark and Daenerys Targaryen — have multiple fan-created accounts. One of the more popular ones (86,000-plus followers) is this one for Tyrion (Peter Dinklage).

‘Big Bang Theory”s chief nerd (or a Caltech theoretical physicist with a B.S., M.S., M.A., Ph.D. and Sc.D, as his Twitter bio notes) has been tweeting nerdy jokes and observations to his 429,000 followers since December 2011.

Though not an official “BBT” account, it’s the closest fans will get to the mind of Sheldon, since star Jim Parsons is not on Twitter.

Frank Underwood, “House of Cards”

The scheming politico played by Kevin Spacey has more than 76,000 followers on this Twitter account — not affiliated with Netflix or “House of Cards” — where he doles out Machiavellian one-liners.

Rick Grimes, “The Walking Dead”

AMC
The zombie drama’s moral leader — played by Andrew Lincoln — has more than 46,000 followers on Twitter (the account is not associated with the show or AMC). “Grimes” hasn’t tweeted since February though.

The whole Pearson Specter team — Harvey Specter, his protegé Mike Ross, assistant Donna Paulsen, rival Louis Litt, managing partner Jessica Pearson and paralegal Rachel Zane — have their own Twitter handles through USA Network’s “Suits Recruits” online game. Senior partner Harvey (Gabriel Macht) is the most-followed of the bunch, with more than 11,000 followers.

On Apr. 10, the night of the Season 3 finale.
