Man in critical condition after East Village attack

An out of control hothead seriously assaulted a man in the East Village, cops said.

The 69 year-old victim was walking on East Sixth Street near Avenue D when he was approached by this man, right, who started to yell at him around 9:45 p.m. Friday, according to police.

He then pushed the defenseless man against a wall, where the victim collapsed to the ground, cops said.

The suspect then punched and kicked him in the head repeatedly.

The victim was rushed to Bellevue hospital where he remains in critical condition, cops said.

It wasn’t clear what sparked the violence.
