Building gave away my paid-for parking space: suit

A Queens woman who had paid for a parking space for more than 40 years was stunned to find someone else in it — and has sued to get it back.

Indira Shetty, 75, has lived in the Andrew Jackson Condominium in Jackson Heights for 47 years and had been renting a space for her car since 1972, according to papers filed in Queens Supreme Court.

She had no idea there was a problem until she went to park her car last month and was told the space was no longer hers, even though she continued to pay for it.

She quickly sued the condominium for the space and for $100,000 in damages, her lawyer said.

The condo said the parking problem was a clerical error that would be fixed.

“It’s on the way to being resolved,” said her attorney, Sheldon Fleishman.

The condo lawyer did not return a call for comment.
