Woman collapses in horror after fatally striking bicyclist

A Queens woman collapses on a street in horror Friday — after learning she had just killed a bicyclist with her car.

Tiffany Delcia Moore, 26, who had just dropped her kids off at school, was arrested for driving with a suspended license after hitting William Faison, 53, at 8:55 a.m. in her Kia on 120th Avenue and 228th Street in Cambria Heights.

Faison had gone for a bike ride to get exercise, his family said.

After hitting him, Moore ran to his side, then returned to her car when first responders arrived.

Craig Henley, a relative of Faison, ran to the scene.

“He tried to open his eyes to see me,” he said. “His mouth wasn’t moving. Then he started moving his mouth, like he was trying to breathe.”

Medics took Faison to Jamaica Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved. His brother Marcus went there to see his body and kissed his forehead, relatives said.

Police told Moore and Faison’s family of his death at the scene.

Faison’s mother, Frances, expressed sympathy for Moore.

“My heart goes out to the woman who hit him,” she said, but “she has to give an account.”

Henley was less forgiving.

“He would still be alive if she was not driving,” he said. “You do not drive on a suspended license.”

Faison was divorced with two sons, 12 and 20. He worked with the mentally disabled at Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services in St. Albans.

“He was a very good son. He took care of me,” his mother said. “I don’t know how to feel. He was a loving son.”

Moore, of Addisleigh Park, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. She was not believed to have been speeding or on the phone.
