An allegedly foul-mouthed Westchester County schools chief was demoted after several employees filed a lawsuit against him for his routine use of racist profanity, officials said Tuesday.
The Greenburgh Central School District Board of Education convened a special meeting and voted to place Superintendent Ronald O. Ross on “administrative reassignment pending a hearing on the disciplinary charges filed against him,” school officials said.
“This situation has greatly affected the district, our community, but most importantly our children,” school board president Lloyd Newland said.
“It has eclipsed what really matters to us — the success and academic achievement of our students. The board has voted to place Mr. Ross on administrative reassignment and will await the outcome of the hearing of the charges filed against him. We can now turn our focus to our children and this school district.”
Ross’ favorite slur was “bitch,” a word he allegedly used in 26 offensive variations, according to a Manhattan federal lawsuit filed by eight district staffers.
The plaintiffs claimed they’ve heard Ross call colleagues and subordinates: “White Bitch,” “Whining White Bitch,” “Black Bitch,” “Fat Bitch,” “Old Black Bitch,” “Old Fat Black Bitch,” “Nazi Bitch,” “Russian Bitch,” “Cancer Bitch,” “Jew Bitch,” “Midget Bitch,” “fat drunk bitch,” “False T—y Bitch,” “Fake T—y Bitch,” “Old Black Bitch,” “Old Fat Black Bitch,” “Nosey Jew Bitch,” “Black Bitches,” “Dumb Bitch,” “F—–g White Bitch,” “Fat White D–e Bitch,” “White D–e Bitch,” “Drunken Bitch,” “Deaf White Bitch,” and even “Racist White Bitch” and “Racist Brazilian Bitch.”
Other offensive terms Ross used, the lawsuit said, included: “Aunt Jemima,” “Clarence Thomas,” “White Uncle Tom,” “White Devil,” “sell out,” “crackers,” “trailer trash,” and “Oreo.”
