Scaramucci to revive iconic ‘Wall Street Week’

LAS VEGAS — Anthony Scaramucci, one of the hedge fund industry’s biggest promoters, is bringing his Vegas show to your living room.

The SkyBridge Capital founder, CNBC talking head and hedge fund conference impresario said Thursday that he has acquired the rights to the iconic finance TV show “Wall Street Week.”

The show will be an extension of his annual SALT hedge fund conference here, which this year drew about 1,800 attendees. The 50-year-old investor launched a sister conference last year in Singapore.

“Wall Street Week,” owned by Maryland Pubic Television, was hosted by the late Louis Rukeyser for 32 years of its 33-year run. It was an introduction to finance for millions of Americans who watched the show on Friday nights until it ended its run in 2005.

The new “Wall Street Week” will likely air on CNBC on the weekends, with Scaramucci as the moderator, he said.

“Let’s do the SALT conference for 30 minutes a week every week,” Scaramucci said, explaining his vision for the show.

Scaramucci has long attempted to bring hedge funds to Main Street.

His first stab has been wildly successful: The annual hedge fund confab, SALT, which he launched in 2009 and planted in glitzy, tawdry Las Vegas, has been a smash hit.

This year’s event featured former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers.
