Fox News will interview Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton has agreed to a half-hour interview on Fox News next month as she promotes her new book and prepares for a 2016 presidential run.

The show is set to air June 17, the network announced today.

Brian Steinberg, Variety’s senior TV critic, said Fox News is “often embraced by viewers with Republican leanings,” and Clinton’s decision “suggests she is seeking a connection with an audience broader than her endemic support base” of Democrats.

Fox News said the interview would cover topics such as Clinton’s new book “Hard Choices,” the upcoming 2016 presidential election and the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

Steinberg wrote that the Fox News “get” of Clinton “is another signal of the importance of its audience to politicians and lawmakers.

“While other networks sometimes vie at different times of the day with Fox News for leadership among viewers between 25 and 54, the demographic most sought by advertisers in news programming, Fox News has dominated both CNN and MSNBC in terms of attracting total viewers for a long while.”
