Watch the rise of the 9/11 Memorial Museum

Here’s a look at 10 years of construction, boiled down to 2 ½ minutes.

EarthCam employed time-lapse photography to chronicle the slow but dramatic rise of the National September 11 Memorial Museum, which opens to the general public on Wednesday.

“I hope it serves as a way to recognize that for the 10 years of construction, there was constant progress made to rebuild these important 16 acres of America,” EarthCam CEO Brian Cury said.

The video — set to a booming orchestral score — shows how a barren pit is slowly filled up by construction workers, new roads and sidewalks, trees, grass and two pools where the towers once stood.
