Mom of boy killed by taxi lobbies for harsher legislation

The devastated mom of a 9-year-old boy killed by a taxi is set to push for harsher laws against rogue cab drivers at a City Council transportation super-hearing Wednesday.

Dana Lerner, whose son, Cooper Stock, was killed on the Upper West Side in January, is slated to testify in favor the bill, which would suspend a cabbie’s license if he kills or critically hurts a pedestrian after failing to yield.

“I want justice for [Cooper],” Lerner told The Post.

The aunt of Boston College student Kelly Gordon — who was killed by a cab earlier this month on her way back from an interview with Goldman Sachs — also will attend to support the legislation.

More than 22 bills and resolutions are scheduled to be addressed at the hearing.

Another bill introduced by the committee’s chairman, Ydanis Rodriguez, will make it easier for police to prosecute bikers and drivers who do stunts and race.

The proposed legislation comes after a man was chased down and beaten by cyclists in front of his family last year on the West Side.

Other legislation would require side guards on large trucks to keep pedestrians, bikers and road workers from being swept underneath.

Most of the legislation is tied to “Vision Zero,” Mayor DeBlasio’s plan to end traffic deaths.

One bill, introduced by Councilman Dan Garodnick, would help more commuters get a tax break for using mass transit.
