Dating site’s message review shows differing trends in US

Las Vegas singles believe opposites attract while the citizens of Raleigh, NC, would rather stick to their own kind.

In a review of messages on its online dating site, Zoosk found members in Vegas, Detroit, Columbus, Sacramento and San Antonio, in that order, were the most willing to date someone without the same traits.

On the other end of the spectrum, romance seekers in Raleigh, San Jose, Birmingham, Richmond and Pittsburgh were the least willing to stray from familiar circles.

Over the first three months of 2014, Zoosk flagged all singles who exchanged messages, and then examined various points of commonality among the potential lovebirds.

The study looked at the chatters’ height, age, prior marital status, religion, body type, education level, drinking and smoking habits.

New Yorkers were all over the map. Big Apple residents were fourth highest among the 50 US cities analyzed for wanting to date someone with a different education level, according to Zoosk.

On the flip side, New York singles were the 10th least likely group to date someone with an opposite smoking habit.
