Judge slams lawyer of ‘butt-inject killer’ for blaming dead victim

A Manhattan judge skewered the lawyer for an unlicensed beautician accused of killing a client with an illegal buttock injection after he blamed the victim for seeking out an unqualified practitioner.

Phony cosmetologist Tamira Mobley, 28, faces manslaughter and assault raps for fatally pumping silicone into Tamara Blaine’s rear end last summer at the Liberty Inn Hotel and for a procedure performed on an unnamed second victim.

“The People allege that there are victims or people who voluntarily scheduled an appointment with a person they knew was not medically licensed to perform the procedure,” said defense attorney Dwane Smith, arguing that Mobley’s bail shouldn’t be raised in light of the second victim coming forward.

“You can’t consent to having someone recklessly cause your death,” said Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Thomas Farber, who appeared dumbfounded by the argument. “This isn’t a civil case. There’s no assumption of risk.”

Assistant District Attorney David Drucker asked Farber to raise Mobley’s bail from $100,000 to $250,000 in light of the new victim at her Manhattan Supreme Court arraignment Thursday.

“There was a very serious injury caused to a second victim,” he said.

“In addition I’m aware of other incidences where she’s caused injury to other people she injected in a similar way.”

Farber ruled against raising Mobley’s bail citing her community ties, lack of a criminal record and the solid reputation of her bail bondsman Ira Judelson.

She pleaded not guilty to the 11 counts against her as her 11-year-old daughter watched from the gallery.
