‘Stalker’ ex-NYU prof takes plea deal, but plans defamation suit

It may take a lot more than two months of therapy.

The sexy ex-NYU professor charged with stalking her Citigroup executive lover finally copped to a plea in Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday — but she still isn’t about to let things go.

Blond Dutch economist Heleen Mees, 41, is plotting to get her revenge on Willem Buiter, the married 63-year-old dad of two she hounded, by slapping him with a defamation suit.
Mees — who must undergo 14 weeks of therapy as part of her plea — filed documents in Manhattan court Monday demanding that Buiter’s employer turn over such information as travel and dining records to prove details about their trysts.

She notes that Buiter, a Cambridge-educated Brit, was still sending her sexual-innuendo-laden e-mails in July 2012, well after he says their relationship ended.

In one missive, Buiter talks about banks “living off spreads’’ and referred to low “ZLB or ELB spreads.’’ When Mees asked him what “ELB” stood for, he replied, “Enema-loving Brit.’’

“In an effort to restore her reputation and public image, Dr. Mees has retained counsel in the Netherlands to investigate and prepare a defamation action against Buiter in the Netherlands,’’ the papers state.

Mees originally balked at taking a plea deal in January.

But she changed course Monday and agreed “because of the stress this case has caused’’ her, said her lawyer, Ira London.

If she then stays clean for a year, the misdemeanor stalking and harassment charges against her will be dropped.

A beaming Mees — dressed in a black skirt, white sweater and stiletto black heels — didn’t say anything during Monday’s proceeding. Buiter wasn’t there.

Citigroup declined comment.
