This week’s couple: Food for thought

Pairing Charles and Aisha together was tricky, especially since they both have particular dining habits: Charles, 36, is a pescetarian with a host of food allergies. Meanwhile, 35-year-old Aisha doesn’t drink. Fortunately, Jacques 1534, a French gastropub in Nolita, provided an atmosphere that helped the two get close, but not too close. Find out how these travel lovers were able to get along, if only for one night.

He said:

When Aisha arrived, I noticed she is tall, slender and was wearing amazing high-heeled boots. She said she is clumsy when she walks, but all I noticed was her grace.

When we sat down, we talked about all sorts of topics, from my food allergies to our families.

Aisha was guarded and let me lead the conversation.

The service at Jacques 1534 was very nice — the staff went out of its way to make us feel comfortable. I enjoyed my dish of perch and the crab cakes.

I walked Aisha to her car to make sure she was on her way safely. She likes to travel with a group of friends, so maybe one day I could share an international adventure with her and her pals. I see us having an enjoyable platonic relationship.

I was late arriving to meet up with Charles, but he was understanding. Instantly, I could tell he was a gentleman. I also sensed a platonic vibe.

We discussed family, work and his travels. There was also some talk about yoga and ways we like to de-stress.

The staff at Jacques 1534 was very nice. The crab cakes were delicious, as was my salmon, which I shared with Charles. I appreciated the way he kept the conversation flowing the entire time.

He walked me to my car after dinner. It was parked about a mile away, but the walk seemed shorter with Charles’ company. We hugged goodbye, and although we didn’t exchange contact info, I had a nice time.
