Giants to face Hakeem Nicks’ Colts in preseason

The Giants will get an early look at the one-time star receiver they allowed to walk out the door when they face Hakeem Nicks and the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in their third preseason game this summer.

After two seasons of injuries and diminished production from Nicks, the Giants had enough of their 2009 first-round draft pick and did not make a serious attempt to keep him when free agency hit. Nicks did not find much interest in his services on the open market and signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Colts. The Giants and Colts also face each other in the regular season, at MetLife Stadium.

The Giants play five preseason games this year. They get the extra game by kicking off the preseason schedule in the Aug. 3 Hall of Fame game against the Bills in Canton. After that, the Giants play host to the Steelers the week of Aug. 7-10, face the Colts in Indy the week of Aug. 14-18, play their annual preseason game against the Jets the week of Aug. 21-24 and close their preseason schedule Aug. 28 against the Patriots at MetLife Stadium.

The times and dates of the entire preseason schedule will be determined at a later date.

For the second consecutive summer, the Giants play exclusively AFC teams in the preseason. In fact, after the Hall of Fame Game, they face the same four teams – Steelers, Colts, Jets, Patriots – in the same order as they did in the 2013 preseason.
