Ex-Brooklyn borough president to promote NYC

Brooklyn’s most boisterous backer is getting bigger bucks to boost the other boroughs.

Former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz got tapped Friday as vice president for “borough promotion and engagement” at NYC & Co. — the city’s nonprofit marketing arm.

With the move, the former Beep and state senator is set to get a nice hike in salary, from $160,000 to $180,000, while cashing in on his pension after 34 years of government service.

NYC & Co. raised nearly $37 million in private and public revenues in 2013 — including $12.5 million from the city.

It’s the group behind the popular NYC Restaurant Week — which offers discounts at top eateries — and other events that are meant to draw visitors.

The city hosted a record of more than 54 million tourists in 2013, and is trying to hit 55 million this year.
