Olympian is betting favorite on new ‘Dancing With The Stars’

The new season of “Dancing With the Stars” kicks off Monday night, and according to Vegas odds-makers, an Olympian is likely to take home the mirror ball trophy.

Gold medalist ice dancer Meryl Davis is the 3/2 favorite to win this season of the ABC reality competition show, according to online sports betting site Bovada, followed closely by her ice dancing partner Charlie White, who has 3/1 odds.

Gamblers are betting youth will be an asset on the dance floor, with 17-year-old Australian pop star Cody Simpson and 23-year-old Big Time Rush singer James Maslow following with 6/1 odds.

Paralympian snowboarder Amy Purdy gets an edge with 10/1 odds, while a trio of current and former TV stars are tied at 15/1 — “Full House” actress Candace Cameron Bure, Danica McKellar (“The Wonder Years”) and “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes.

Most people aren’t betting former NHL player Sean Avery’s footwork will transfer from the ice to the ballroom — he has 20/1 odds — while the competition’s oldest contestant — 76-year-old “Star Wars” actor Billy Dee Williams — has a 25/1 chance to win the whole thing.

As for most likely to be sent packing early? Vegas isn’t high on swimmer Diana Nyad or “The Price Is Right” host Drew Carey, who both trail the list with 33/1 odds.

One thing the oddsmakers might not be counting on is a format change this season that allows viewers to vote to switch celebrities and their pro-dancer partners midseason, potentially creating a new favorite.

The new “Dancing With the Stars” cast makes their debut on the Season 18 premiere Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
