Knicks plan D-League move to White Plains

The Knicks are plotting to drop their D-League affiliate in Erie, Pa. and start up one in White Plains next season, according to the Westchester County executive.

In a Wednesday press release, county executive Robert Astorino said the Knicks’ D-League affiliate would play at Westchester County Center starting this fall. It would allow the Knicks to have their young players drop in to play a handful of D-League games to stay sharp without having to fly to Pennsylvania. Knicks assistant general manager Allan Houston has run the Erie franchise. The NBA has to approve the D-League switch.

The Knicks have rarely used the D-League to send down players — with the notable exception of Jeremy Lin, whose brief stint in Erie begat Linsanity a week later in the NBA.
