Get ready for ‘Divergent’ with these 5 tunes

The latest young-adult book-to-big-screen franchise, “Divergent,” opens this weekend, and it’s expected to be a big one, maybe even opening as high as $70 million. While we’ve still got a few more days to wait until we know if it’s really the next “Hunger Games,” you can get a taste of the film today with its soundtrack, now available.

But where should you start listening? Based on your favorite character from the series, here’s the best song for you.

If you like Tris: “Beating Heart,” Ellie Goulding

To be fair, most of the soundtrack is probably inspired by our leading lady, Tris Prior. But let’s go with “Beating Heart,” a soaring anthem that encompasses both Tris the butt-kicking heroine and Tris the lover.

If you like Four: “I Need You,” M83

On the outside, Four is one tough cookie, much like the electro-rock rhythms of M83. But under that, he’s a guy who needs to be loved, just like everyone else.

If you like Jeanine: “Dream Machines,” Big Deal

Well, Jeanine is the villain, so you must not have read the book very carefully. But if you insist, “Dream Machines” makes sense for fans of the brain-controlling serum employer.

If you like Christina: “Hanging On (I See MONSTAS Remix),” Ellie Goulding

You may recall that in one of Christina’s most pertinent scenes in “Divergent,” she hangs from a ledge over a pit and tries not to die. So yes, this is very literal.

If you like Peter: “Fight For You,” Pia Mia feat. Chance the Rapper

Peter is one bad boy, and that includes his thirst for fighting battles and inciting anger. It seems plausible he’d fight for someone’s love.
