New York braces for yet another snowstorm

New Yorkers braced for another Monday-morning slog as March roared into town like a lion with the season’s 13th storm.

Dodging some of the worst predictions, the Big Apple was still set to be blanketed with enough snow to make the morning commute a slow-moving mess and disrupt flights at all major airports.

The storm was expected to bring between two to four inches to the city, starting Sunday night and continuing steadily through the morning, according to AccuWeather. Experts had initially anticipated
from six to 10 inches of snow in the greater New York region.

The lighter accumulation, however, was set to carry with it heavier, wetter snow.

“It may be difficult to shovel and plow due to its weight,” AccuWeather’s Alex Sosnowski predicted.

The precipitation isn’t expected to taper off until well after Monday’s a.m. commute, making for another rough start to the work week. Meanwhile, the temperature isn’t expected to get back above the freezing mark until at least Thursday.

The Department of Transportation on Sunday suspended alternate-side parking ahead of the storm.

Things are expected to get particularly ugly south of the city. The Mid-Atlantic region will likely be crippled — forecasts predict up to a foot of snow for the areas surrounding southern New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, DC.
