‘Judge Judy’ viewing numbers continue to grow

If TV is all about “young” viewers, then someone please explain to me why the ratings for “Judge Judy” — hosted by 70-ish Judy Sheindlin — continue to grow.

Syndication numbers for the February sweeps are now in, and “Judge Judy” averaged a staggering 11.1 million viewers last month — its best February sweeps viewership ever (18 years), and that was up against Olympics coverage on NBC. Go figure. The show also averaged an 8.0 household ratings, its best showing in six years. “Dr. Phil” was TV’s top-rated daytime talk show in February — averaging 4.9 million viewers — and was also up 5 percent in daytime’s key demo (women 25-54) over February 2012.

Speaking of demos, last Saturday night’s “48 Hours” episode, “The Blue River Murder,” snared a 1.4 in the “money” news demo (adults 25-54) at 10 p.m. to win the night. It was also first in total viewers (5.1 million).

Beth Behrs her secrets

The on-screen chemistry between “2 Broke Girls” stas Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings is tangible in the actresses’ real-life relationship, says Behrs — who plays Caroline Channing on the CBS sitcom (opposite Dennings’ Max Black).

“The process [of casting for ‘2 Broke Girls’] was so drawn out,” Behrs tells the April issue of CBS Watch! Magazine. “The last step was making sure I had chemistry with Kat Dennings, who had been cast way before me. I’d never met her before that morning, and as she was leaving in the elevator, she was like, ‘If they don’t cast you, call me.’ I love that girl,” Behrs says. “And we need each other — we work so much, and we’re the only ones who understand each other’s lives. We’re in this together.”

And . . . “The Chew” co-host Carla Hall says she piled on the pounds shortly after joining the ABC daytime show. “After the first three months on ‘The Chew’ I gained 20 pounds,” she says in the March 24 issue of People magazine.

“We were making five dishes for each show, two shows a day. And I was eating the whole plate. I had to learn to just have a taste.”
