A man dressed in a teddy-bear hat and armed with a large knife tried to rob a woman in the lobby of her Lower East Side building, authorities said.

The 31-year-old victim had just exited the Essex Street subway station on Feb. 12 at about 2:30 a.m. when the suspect started tailing her, cops said.

When the woman entered her Suffolk Street building, the suspect followed her inside, pulled out a butcher knife and demanded her valuables.

The victim fought back, grabbing the thug’s wrists and getting into a scuffle in the hallway before the mugger fled empty-handed, cops said.

The woman was not injured, officials said.

The suspect is described as being about 25 years old, 5-foot-5 and 130 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a beige knitted bear hat and camouflage jacket.


Cops Monday released photos of two suspects wanted in an iPhone-snatching on a Harlem bus.

The bus was heading eastbound on West 125th Street toward Fifth Avenue last Dec. 1 at about 6:25 a.m. when one suspect grabbed the 26-year-old woman’s device, police said.

An accomplice shielded him and then helped him flee, cops added.

Both suspects are believed to be in their 20s.

The one who took the phone was wearing a black fleece jacket and red hoodie, police said.

His accomplice was wearing a tan jacket with a red collar and a black hoodie, cops said.


Queens

A 2-year-old boy was critically injured when he was struck by a car after darting into traffic while walking with his mother in Auburndale on Monday, authorities said.

The mother and son were walking down 196th Street near Northern Boulevard at about 2:30 p.m. when the boy ran into the street just as a car was coming, cops said.

The driver remained on scene after the accident.

The boy was taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital.


An off-duty correction officer was busted Monday for drunken driving, police said.

Patrick Brown, 33, was initially pulled over for having a broken taillight at the corner of Francis Lewis Boulevard and Grand Central Parkway at about 3:45 a.m. Cops then noticed that Brown smelled of booze, had slurred speech and a wobbly stance, police sources said.

Brown registered a .105 on a Breathalyzer — the legal limit is .08 — and was charged with DWI and a traffic violation for driving without taillights, cops said.

This suspect is wanted for an attempted rape in Astoria, police said.

The 22-year-old victim was walking down 30th Avenue on Feb. 23 at about 3:30 a.m. when a fiend attacked her from behind, pushed her to the ground and climbed on top of her, cops said.

The woman struggled as the brute tried to rape her. He eventually got scared off and ran.

The woman suffered minor cut and bruises.

The suspect is described as being in his 30s, around 5-foot-7 and 145 pounds.


The Bronx

A 23-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday in Fordham Heights, cops said.

Joseph Belton was standing in front of 2265 Creston Avenue around 6 p.m. when a gunman opened fire, striking the victim several times in the torso.

Belton was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cops are looking for a thief who stole a cellphone and a debit card from a snoozing straphanger after slicing open his pocket on a train in Bedford Park.

The robber crept up on the 21-year-old 6-train rider on Jan. 23 at about 2:30 a.m., cut open his pocket and swiped his iPhone5 and debit card, police said.

Police said the thief used the stolen debit card to buy a MetroCard four days later.

The suspect is about 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds.
