Giants, Bills to open preseason in Hall of Fame Game

Even before Michael Strahan was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, there was speculation that the Giants might play this summer in the Hall of Fame Game. That will indeed be the case, as they will face the Bills on Aug. 3 in Canton, one day after Strahan is enshrined.

This means the Giants and Bills will open up training camp earlier than every other team, with the Giants reporting to camp the third week of July. It also means new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo will have more time to install and work out the kinks of a new system with what figure to be plenty of new players surrounding Eli Manning.

This also means the Giants will play five preseason games instead of the customary four.

The last time the Giants played in a Hall of Fame Game was 2002, when rookie tight end Jeremy Shockey starred and conjured up images of Mark Bavaro. The Giants also played in the Hall of Fame Game in 1962 (the first one), 1972 and 1985.
