Putin’s ex-Olympian ‘gal pal’ rumored to light Sochi flame

Vladimir Putin’s romance with sexy former rhythmic gymnast Alina Kabaeva is Russia’s worst kept secret — but you’d have to have be in the KGB style security clearance to learn her role in Friday’s Olympic opening ceremony.

A day before the festivities, there have been no officials announcements, but the prevailing rumor is that she will light the Olympic flame.

Kabaeva was a gold medalist in 2004, so it’s wouldn’t be a total outrage – though some have complained of preferential treatment.

Kabaeva, 30, and Putin, 63, have been an item since as far back as 2006, when she officially retired from gymnastics to join Putin’s United Russia Party.

The Russian prez finally divorced his long suffering wife last year – five years after the rumors he was leaving her for Kabaeva first surfaced.

Putin has denied it would be his call who lights the torch – but he’s also never admitted he and Kabaeva are lovers… or that they have a young son and daughter together.

The opening ceremony takes place Friday, a day after the official start of the Olympic Games.
