Wasn’t one ‘Sharknado’ enough?

Syfy will begin filming its “Sharknado” sequel, “Sharknado 2: The Second One,” Feb. 13 here in New York City — hoping against hope that lightning will strike twice for last summer’s social-media sensation, which elicited tweets from the likes of Mia Farrow, Seth Meyers and Christina Applegate. The sequel will feature original stars Ian Zieiring and Tara Reid reprising their roles as Fin (oy) and April; this time around, “a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished, iconic sites . . . ” Syfy beat the joke into the ground last summer by repeating the movie ad nauseum after its initial (social media) success.

More New York City: The Paley Center now has a new exhibit featuring archival recordings of US broadcasts of the Olympic Games — 1,300 hours in all, dating back to the 1960 Winter Games in Squaw Valley, Calif. All the entries are full blocks of programming as they first aired, not isolated performances or competitions.

And . . . “Good Morning America” writer/producer Edmund Levin’s new book, “A Child of Christian Blood: Murder and Conspiracy in Tsarist Russia: The Beilis Blood Libel,” out Feb. 25, is getting rave reviews (Booklist, Kirkus, Publishers Weekly).
