The Duke University student who moonlights as a porn star to pay her tuition says the venerable North Carolina school backs her controversial side gig.
“They have been very supportive of me,” the freshman known as “Belle Knox” told CNN’s Piers Morgan.
“We’re working really hard to make sure that I’m safe.”
And, while her part-time career helps offset much of her $60,000-a-year Duke tuition, it’s not all about the cold, hard cash.
“To be in porn and to be able to be naked and to be able to be free and have that sexual autonomy, it is so incredibly freeing,” Knox said.
Knox decided to publicly reveal her identity after being outed by a Duke classmate and bashed people who have slammed her side work, claiming many of them are probably porn purveyors themselves.
“I think 80 percent of the world’s traffic on the Internet is pornography,” the women’s studies major said. “And I think that probably every single person at some point in their life has watched pornography.
“So, I think it’s extremely hypocritical that the same society that consumes me is also condemning me.”
