Possible ‘knockout game’ attack in NYC

A Long Island man bar hopping down on the Bowery over the weekend may be the latest victim of the “Knockout” game.

The 23-year-old victim was walking between bars on Bowery at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when the attacker came running up behind him and punched him in the back of the head before running off, cops said.

Police said the victim was punched so hard, the impact knocked him unconscious and shattered his jaw.

He woke up in Bellevue Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Police said the two men did not have any contact prior to the assault, which is believed to be a random attack, and would not confirm if it was connected to the infamous knockout game, where criminals try to knock out their victims with a single punch.
