Rookie cops save elderly woman’s life at airport

Two rookie Port Authority cops saved an elderly woman’s life at LaGuardia Airport.

The 71 year-old Texas woman was on the lower level of the United Airlines central building around 2 p.m. Monday when she suddenly collapsed, the PAPD said.

Police officers Lenny Guzman and William Mudry responded to the unresponsive woman who was lying on the floor without a pulse but they quickly began CPR and grabbed a defibrillator, Port Authority police said.

It took two attempts to revive the woman, who was at the airport to catch a plane back to Texas. She was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital where she is in stable condition, according to the PAPD.

“The equipment and training used by these officers today illustrates the value of both to the traveling public,” Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.
