Brooklyn beauty-parlor ownership dispute heads to court

A Brooklyn woman claims her Bed-Stuy hair salon was stolen out from under her by a hairdresser she hired to manage the place.

Shirlonda Brailsford says in a Brooklyn Supreme Court lawsuit that she launched Milk & Honey The Beauty Bar last summer and had asked Chenera Braithwaite to handle day-to-day operations.

But Brailsford claims in the suit that Braithwaite cut her out of her own business, taking on five cosmetologists — who rented their chairs for $275 each per week — without giving her any of the cash, seizing the salon’s documents and even trying to change the locks.

Brailsford is seeking $150,000 in damages.

But a source familiar with the situation said that the women had launched the salon together and that Brailsford abandoned it.

“It’s disgusting,” the source said of the suit.

Braithwaite declined comment.
