Ranks of de Blasio ‘do nothing’ paid staffers grow

Mayor de Blasio’s nonworking staffers are still enjoying themselves at city taxpayers’ expense — and their ranks seem to be growing.

A day after The Post revealed on Tuesday that at least a dozen mayoral staffers awaiting assignment were seen playing cards and watching Netflix at 253 Broadway, a reporter spotted about 20 of them taking it easy at the same florescent-lit city office.

Amid rows of computers, the mostly young staffers included one catching up on Facebook, at least two playing on their smartphones and one man tilting back on his chair as he chatted on a phone.

Staffers were spotted frequently grabbing a restroom key hanging by the door to take breaks.

A sign outside the third-floor door said, “Temporary Office Space for Incoming City Hall Staff.”

All of the staffers inside the large room are on the city’s payroll — but have yet to be assigned city jobs three weeks after the new mayor took office.

They previously worked for de Blasio when he was the city’s public advocate.

Mayoral aides insisted that the staffers are doing “substantive” work and are in the process of having their official roles in the administration finalized.
