Man wounded in shooting at Church Ave. B/Q station

A man was wounded at a Brooklyn subway station Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Witnesses said the shooter fired on the 24-year-old victim three times outside the Church Avenue station in Ditmas Park, then hit him once in the mezzanine at the station.

“I heard the shots, and I saw the officers holding their guns, ready to fire,” said Teddy Shlomo, 22. “The officer was facing 18th street, and the shooter was on the street. It’s not uncommon for this to happen in this area.”

Police said he the gunman was wearing a red jumpsuit.

He has not been apprehended yet.

The victim was wounded in the torso, and taken to Kings County Hospital for treatment.

“He was walking after he got shot,” said Asha Maraj, 45. “He walked into the ambulance.”

The Church Avenue station was closed for about three hours during the police investigation, and the B and Q trains skipped the stop in both directions.

It reopened shortly after 5 p.m.
