Three teens sexually abused and sodomized a 12-year-old girl in a Brighton Beach public bathroom that is supposed to be staffed by an attendant while it’s open, police said yesterday.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon, but the frightened girl did not report it until Friday, when she told detectives she was attacked by three teens inside a ladies room under the boardwalk.
Police said the girl, a truant from school, went to the beach with a friend. When the victim went to the bathroom alone the three teens followed inside, where they groped her.
Then, while two of the teens held her down, the third sodomized her, police said.
The attack ended when the friend ran inside and screamed at the teens, who fled.
They are still being sought.
An attendant stationed at the bathroom yesterday said it is staffed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. “Somebody would notice,” if anything happened, the worker said.
But one beachgoer, Iris Hollingsworth, said the bathroom is “dim and dark.”
“I wouldn’t send my 12-year-old in there by herself, ” she said.
